Miyamoto Musashi Tee

Miyamoto Musashi (宮本武蔵), born in 1584, was christened as a natural warrior at the remarkable age of 13 when he killed an older Samurai, beating him with a six-foot wooden staff until he died vomiting blood. In 1600, he found himself on the losing side of the Battle of Sekigahara. Musashi fought bravely and with his skill survived the battle and the ensuing massacre of his clan. The aftermath of the battle left Musashi in the position of being a rōnin (浪人) or master-less samurai, so he began to wander Japan on a warrior pilgrimage known as a musha shugyo. During these years, Musashi would hone his fighting skills, ultimately creating the Hyohō Niten Ichi-ryū (兵法 二天 一流), a groundbreaking style of swordsmanship that employs two swords, earning him the title of kensai, or "sword saint." He boldly claimed to have fought well over 60 individual sword fights, many of which were to the death.
